I am suggesting a few modifications, for those of us who eat this dip sober. Add a few splashes of vinegar and some tofu-sour cream, plus a little garlic and onion powder. The recipe as it is lacks tang, so I used this mod to make it a little better.
This recipe calls for fresh onion and garlic. However, some recipes do call for garlic / onion powder. It's up to your taste buds how much of those fresh ingredients to use. As far as garlic, it's really hard to overdo it if you love that garlic flavor. We would suggest 1-3 cloves per serving. Onion quantities vary a bit more.
When we do use garlic / onion powder it's usually because they keep better over time than their fresh alternatives. We are simply keeping in mind people who do not have fresh garlic and/or fresh onion in stock.
