I never would have thought of this. De-lish.

Not sure how vegan these enchilada rolls will be: the enchilada sauce might contain beef products such as beef broth and/or ground beef; also, lard (rendered beef fat) might be in generic crescent rolls. If the reader is strict vegan, the items need to be reviewed before assuming they are acceptable.

To the anonymous buzz kill (jan 22): shut up. Every vegan blog has the buzz kill commenters. So annoying. I've been vegan for nearly a decade, but I have to say, the vegan community has some of the whiniest douche bags. To double check the vegan-osity of something before purchasing it goes without saying. Now shut up and stop being a douche bag

Woah anonymous!

Can't we all just anonymously be friends?

Yes, anonymous may have been being Captain Buzz Killington extraordinaire but there is no need for the name calling.

Now lets all just enjoy this delicious grub in our glorious anonymity.

I also hate to be a buzzkill, but I found out recently soy in America is 91% genetically modified. Not good for reproductive organs. Just saying. Soy might be dangerous.

Well, anonymous, is that better or worse than eating beef that was pumped with anti-biotics and hormones?

In any case, made this recipe just now. My husband (who is a ferocious meat eater) gobbled it up and begged me to make it again next week.

And for anybody wondering if things are vegan, that's why you read the package and do your research, silly.

Greetings all! Isn't it wild that we all have the same name (Anonymous)?!

Anyway...I couldn't tell if there was a preferred crescent roll brand or not.

Any thoughts on this one?

...Thanks!

Man on the Moon brand crescent rolls are superior.

Yummy!

I substituted black beans for chicken substitute, and salsa for enchilada sauce. Still really, really good.

Wait, would crescent rolls really be vegan? I haven't looked at canned ones - but to make things like that from scratch, the biggest most important ingredient for a flaky crescent roll is butter. Maybe the canned ones use oil, but seems odd to me.

The Vegan Stoner said...

Anonymous,

Check your local grocery store, there is usually one option without butter. Also, it is possible to use oil or margarine as a substitute when making from scratch. Of course, it would have a slightly different and less greasy texture.

If you can not find vegan crescent roll dough, try using puff pastry sheets or even phyllo dough. Most brands do not use butter or milk.

ya'll are all faggots who cares if the crescent rolls conained butter? If you were strict enough to notice that then you wouldnt even buy the store brand anyway. and if you care about your body enough you should know how and where to get the vegan options to anything they list on here. quit bitching get stoned and keep the recipes coming. love this site.

Where can i find "faux meat"?

The Vegan Stoner said...

Hi Anonymous,

This illustration was intended to show seitan, which often comes in pre-made packages. However, soy curls, tempeh, or seasoned tofu would work just as well. And if you don't have any of those products available in the stores around you, making faux meat from legumes is a fun and easy alternative. Here is one recipe where we did that: Zucchini Beanballs

Ohhh my goodness, I'll be using this as my go-to quick dinner for the foreseeable future. I was awkward getting them rolled, but I don't really care about the presentation of my food anyway, and these were SO good! I'm traditionally not a huge fan of enchilada sauce so I mixed mine with some Texas Pete's and loved it. I used little chikn strips this time but they'll be great with any protein.
