Hooray! I am also relieved to see your return. I was so scared that watermelon curry would pop up as the first recipe once again. :)

Hi! Just wanted to say that I recently stumble upon your blog via pinterest and just wanted to say thank you for the recipes and the fun and cute way you are sharing it! So easy to fallow :) to bad that I can't find every ingredient in Sweden :(

Hi! Just found your cool site. I tried this recipe and it was easy and tasty. I tend to like things a little zippier so I added a healthy splash of white wine and a dash of red pepper flakes. Thank you!

What is TVP please?

Anonymous said...

Can someone tell me what TVP is? Thanks!

Rachel said...

yummm! looks so good and super easy :)

The Vegan Stoner said...

Hi Bernie and Anonymous,

TVP is Textured Vegetable Protein, a byproduct of extracting soy bean oil. It is basically, dehydrated soy protein that needs to be boiled in water for a few minutes to regain it's faux meat texture.

It can usually be bought in most bulk bin areas or purchased in bags.

Hope this helps.

Hi Anonymous,

You can replace the TVP with barley, couscous, pasta, vegetables, or rice.

Try making a unique combination of these things.

Deeeeelicious! Dinner that the whole family (my vegan mother, omnivore father, and I) loved.

Brilliant recipes, I'm a lazy vegan (I only ever spend time on baking desserts) and this is briliant for me and my boyfriend. Will be giving some of these recipes a go soon. Love the layout too.

Your recipes suck because you always use a bunch of processed garbage like TVP. Do some research on this junk before you recommend it to vulnerable newbies who may not know about the dangers of such frankenfoods.

Anonymous said...

Oh, that figures. Pre-moderated posts. Bet mine doesn't make it through.

Thanks for the 2 comments, Anonymous. We always welcome people to replace the ingredients in our recipes with ones they feel better fit their diet. We've found through people's comments that they usually do. The TVP could easily be replaced with legumes or chopped veggies, for example.

We often try to create quick, affordable recipes that can act as replacements for ones which might otherwise have animal products. Our recipes are foods which we eat ourselves, so they are only as well informed as we are. To our knowledge TVP is an affordable complete protein with dietary fiber, iron, magnesium and phosphorus. We know a lot of people do not have the budget for fresh veggies everyday, and TVP has a longer shelf life than fresh foods. We also believe the only way to avoid processed foods is a raw diet, which we do recommend.

On a side note, we moderate comments to prevent spam from appearing (there is a fair amount of it). We want people with comments related to the blog to be heard, including yourself. Thanks again.
